Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
Do I have a right to know the physical address of my ex when it comes to visitat
My spouse and I divorced March 16th of this year. He remarried in April. Our son is 7. I have physical custody and we share joint custody. My ex will not give me his home address, even though my son visits him every weekend and more. I left and divorced him, so stalking is not an issue.
Also, he was due to have our son over the summer and I would have visitation on the weekends. He waited until the last day of school to say that he was not going to do this. My mother would like for him to visit her for the summer in Alabama. Do I have a right to allow him to visit even if his father disapproves?

You do have a right to know where your son's father is living, if you have joint custody and the son is visiting the father regularly. Joint custody requires that the parents communicate with each other on a variety of issues, and I can't imagine how you communicate if you don't know where he lives and where your son is visiting. If he continues to refuse to give you information about his address (and telephone number), you could return to court requesting a change in the custody order or an order requiring the father to give you his address and phone number. Regarding the question about a summer visit to your mother in Alabama, there is no reason why you can't send your son for a visit, so long as it doesn't interfere with the scheduled visitation with the father. Has the father given up all summer visitation, or just the whole summer visitation? Maybe his new wife doesn't want your son around all summer. If you do end up back in court because of the visitation issue or the problem about the father's location, or about a visit to grandma in Alabama, no judge will think you did anything wrong by sending your son for a visit with your mother.
