A person who is not mentally competent to understand the meaning of legal documents cannot execute a valid power of attorney. If you wish to retain control of your daughter's affairs, you will have to file a petition for guardianship in the circuit court of your county. I strongly suggest you retain an attorney familiar with this process to assist you, as there are a number of requirements that must be met to successfully complete it.
