Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
pro se to lawyer
The ex and I filed prose and we are going to trial soon. If I wanted to get a lawyer before trial, can they just show up to represent me, or is there a process with the court in order for a lawyer to represent me.

The attorney would have to formally enter their appearance with the court. This can be done prior to the hearing or in court on the day of the hearing. In order for the attorney to be an effective advocate, it would be in your best interest to allow the attorney ample time to prepare your case, talk to witnesses, discuss potential settlement opportunities with the opposition, etc.
