Re: protection order

I am assuming you are saying that someone was served with a temporary protective order, and what happens if that person does not appear for the final protective order hearing. If a person served with the temporary protective order does not appear in court for the final protective order hearing, that does not mean that the court will automatically issue the final protective order. The person seeking the protective order still has to prove to the court's satisfaction at the final hearing that a final protective order is merited. This, obviously, will be much easier to do if the other person does not come since the court won't be able to hear that person's side of the story, but is not automatic.
