Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

How do I prove they are adopted?

My husband died in 1997. I have reason to believe that his 2 children from a previous marriage were adopted in the state of Maryland between 1978-1983. My attorney says it is to late to get a court order. I have received notice of a hearing on an objection to final accounting and petition for discharge on Nov. 18th. Is it really too late to bring this up and why is that? How do I prove they were adopted?

The MD courts should be able to search the court records if you know the county in which the adoption supposedly took place and the approximate date. If the alleged adopted children are claiming a share of the estate, they should be obligated to prove their relationship to your late husband.
