Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
I received court order against husband to have child support direct deposited. Also he is supposed to pay the health insurance for my two 15 year old children. Went to doctors and was told insurance coverage not in affect, cancelled. Called health insurance co. who said information on policy is confidential, so I had to take them to hospital, have current bill about $2,000. I contacted Baltimore child support, no answer. Sent certified letter to their director over three weeks ago delivered, no reply. Husband is probation dept supervisor who originally child support said they could not locate even though he was in same building, so I think they are playing games. Can you suggest what I should do. I live out of state a distance.

You need to retain a family lawyer in Baltimore or the county in which the case is filed to file a show cause petition against your husband for violating the court order insofar as it covers the insurance requirement. The attorney can ask the court as part of the petition to order him to pay your legal expenses if found in contempt. If you contact the local bar association's lawyer referral service they can direct you to someone with experience in this area.
