Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Do I have any recourse against DSS or my step-mother from the proven lies.

My question concerns a lengthy court battle that has been going on for over three and a-half years. Originally there was a spanking that resulted in a red bottom and we both agreed not to use corporal punishment on our child. She remained home for a week before a DSS worker came and asked us to sign a paper, we refered her to our lawyer. The next day they removed her and my husband hasn't been allowed to see her since. The master found the spanking to not be enough to find her CINA, so the DSS lawyer proceeded to accuse me of neglect. That I was not following Drs. orders by not giving my child the full two full cans of Pediasure and medicines were not getting filled. I have written documentation by the doctor giving me the freedom to give 0 cans if she ate well, 1 can if she ate so-so and 2 cans if she ate poorly. Also I have the prescriptions papers that prove all meds were filled. What can I do to keep this from happening to someone else?

You don't say whether you had a lawyer representing you, but I expect you did not if what you describe happened. On matters such as you describe, I believe no one should go to court without a lawyer, as the stakes are so great. If you can't afford to hire a lawyer, this is the kind of case which legal aid attorneys are usually interested to handling for no fee.
