What happens if the victim breaks the restraining order?

There is no such thing as a victim breaking a protective order. Unless it is explicitly a mutual protective order, the only person prevented from contact is the abuser. Should the victim try to contact the abuser, it is the abuser who could be punished, not the victim.

It is possible for the victim to rescind the protective order, but only after petitioning the court to do so and explaining why they want to rescind.
