Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Retirement benefits after divorce

I was married to a man for 25 yrs. We are now divorced. I signed an agreement in which we declared that we would not file for retirement benefits from each other's retirement. I get SS, he gets Federal retirement? Is this binding when we are retirement age or are disabled?

Unless you carved out some exceptions when you made your agreement, you are bound by its terms. Agreements would be meaningless if people could just ignore them because after the fact they decided they made a mistake.
