Retirement Benenfits

My husband have been order by the courts to give me part of his retirement. My Husband has retired from D.C. Government, do I have to submit some kind of form in to receive my part of the his retirement.

You have to prepare and have the judge sign a court order requiring the DC Gov't to automatically send your share of your ex's retirement benefits directly to you. The order must conform to the DC Gov'ts requirements, so first you need to contact the department that handles this to find out those requirements.

If you had a lawyer who handled your divorce, he or she should take care of this for you, as it's not something that a layperson is typically able to do. If you didn't have a lawyer, you should definitely hire someone to help you. You can contact me for assistance.
