My rights after he left

My husband left without notice , I went to work and when i go home he was gone . He left no contact information and no money for the kids or bills. What rights if any do i have ? I do have his work address and i calls from a prvate number . What can i do , he's been gone for two weeks .

You have the right to take him to court for child support and possibly separate maintenance. You will have to file a petition for custody of your children and support. You will need to submit evidence of his income so that the appropriate amount of support can be determined under MD law. Once the court issues an order, you can get an order requiring his employer to deduct the support from his paycheck and send it to you. Of course, if he disappears, you will have a problem collecting until you find him.

I suggest that you retain an experienced family attorney, who can write your husband a letter at his job and explain the above consequences to him if he doesn't re-establish communication with you and agree to resume supporting the family.
