Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
What rights do a parent has with sole custody?
I just recently got married and my husband is in the military and I want to move to where he is in Texas. My daughter's father is going to probably give me a hard time in trying to have the courts involved in it and I need to know what am I up against since my daughter is only two and what could be the worse case scenario?

I'm assuming for the moment that you and your ex don't have an agreement which prohibits you from moving your child more than a certain distance from your current residence or your ex's, nor anything in the divorce decree that prevents you from doing so. That being the case, you can legally move to Texas, but you may have to renegotiate any visitation schedules that are in place to permit your ex to have as much visitation as possible under the new circumstances. You may also have to pay at least part of the cost of travel for your child back to the Maryland area for visitation. If you two can communicate it's best to try and work out an agreement rather than let the issue be decided by a judge.
