If you have a child, you can file a court petition for child support; if not, and you can demonstrate that you are unable to support yourself, you can file for a limited divorce and ask for separate maintenance which is temporary alimony. Contact the bar association in your county and ask about their pro bono program so you can have a free consultation with an attorney if you income qualify. You will need an attorney experienced in family law to get the assistance you need. Of course, you can also explore public assistance programs through your county.
