My husband has left the home and I want to know if I can legally make him pay joint bills together for 2 years?

Re: Separation agreement

You can file a court action seeking a temporary divorce based on desertion. In the suit, you would seek ongoing financial support. If you have minor children living with you, you can slso ask for child support.

Re: Separation agreement

Whether each is liable singularly depends upon how the obligation is incurred. Typically debt is held joint and several which makes it enforceable against either debtor.

In addition, debt can be collateralized. This, again, depends on many factors. Certain debt may be readily enforceable against both parties.

If you are experiencing marital difficulty that is resolving to a divorce you should contact an attorney. I am available at (410) 799-9002 or by return e-mail at [email protected]
