Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
Separation/Divorce
This is Howard County Maryland. I recently separated from my wife because the marraige was failing, and will be getting divorced in a year. We got a house (condo) in Columbia together three years ago, which now has a considerable value. She is living in the house (her name is on the deed). I paid an entire year of the mortgage and her bills while she stayed home with the baby. She makes a little bit more money than I do. I paid half of the bills for the other two years. She now has most of the furniture we bought. I moved into an apartment. She says her lawyer told her I am not entitled to anything. We also have a two year old daughter. I need a lawyer, but I can't afford one. I can barely pay my rent. If it's true that half of the property is mine, then I should receive a decent amount of money from the house when we get divorced?? What about child custody? What can I do? Is there anyone that can help me?

Re: Separation/Divorce
You are correct you need a lawyer. You are incorrect that you cannot afford one. In fact you cannot afford not to have one. You will not get free legal services. You will not be getting a divorce for a year so plan accordingly.
Re: Separation/Divorce
Property acquired over time brings complexity to your legal case. These matters need to be brought forth properly in your action for divorce.
A person "acquires" nonmarital property when 100 percent of the funds used to buy it come from a premarital source or otherwise are directly traceable to nonmarital funds. Application of this general rule is something that you NEED a lawyer to help you accomplish.
The implication of your question indicates that you need an attorney soon. Other matters are apparent from your question.
