Settlement of Money

Is there a time frame in which a person must file for monetary settlement after a divorce is granted?...if so up to how long can they take before filing for such?

Re: Settlement of Money

Any money/property issues between spouses must be resolved at the time of the divorce, or within 90 days thereafter if the judge who heard the divorce expressly reserved the right to rule on property disposition at that time. The judge must make a finding as to what property is considered to be marital in nature, what that property is worth, and how it is to be split between the parties. Once the divorce is entered, the property loses its "marital" nature, although if certain property, like real estate, is titled in joint names, each party would retain an interest in that property. But if you had a joint financial account to which either party had access, and your ex took it during or after the divorce without you doing anything about it, it's probably too late now.
