Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

What to do with my sister-in-law

My sister-in-law is 45yrs old and single. (I am married to her brother). She has finally hit bottom with her 3rd failed attempt at suicide. She quit her job, cancelled her car insurance, stopped paying bills and is now in the hospital. The hospital has already stated they will keep her for 72hrs, then let go. She needs 24hr care and intense counceling. When released, she will have to go to a homeless shelter. Her other sister thinks she is bipolar, but manages to pass physc test given by Drs'. Possible to have her declared incompotent? She will not sign herself into a facility for any treatment, and all of us are done.

Re: What to do with my sister-in-law

You could attempt to petition the court for guardianship, but it is difficult to do, especially if it is contested by the alleged disabled adult.
