Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
I have had sole legal and physical custody of my 11 year old for 7 years. Her father has been absent from her life for those 7 years and has not paid child support. When the child support order was created my daughter and I lived in South Carolina. We have moved to Maryland 2 years ago. About six months ago her father resurfaced. He paid 2 weeks of child support that was forced out his paycheck. The payments have now stopped. Her father has called to inform me that I will be supendaed to court in Alabama (his residing state) for child support and maybe visitation. I do not want to go. Help.

Under the uniform law that most states adhere to, Alabama would not have jurisdiction to hear this case. He would have to go either to SC or to MD. I suggest you try to contact the child support agency in the AL county where the father lives to see if they can represent your interests in the event he files court papers. It would be a good idea to have them file the original child support order in his county so that it could be enforced there if that hasn't already been done. But any changes in the amount of support or in visitation should be handled through the MD courts now.
Uniform law requires filing of certain documentation in order to acquire juridiction. You may also need further documentation and orders of court in South Carolina to move forward outside of that State.
Based on your question it appears that Maryland is proper jurisdiction for your case, further research on your case and discussion with an attorney is necessary.
Should he arrive with demands of custody, contact the police for assistance.
