Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

I have sole legal and residential custody of our son and was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer 7 months ago. I have been going through treatment and have every intention of fighting it but wish I could eliminate the harrassment and unneccessary stress in my life.

Primarily the stepmother. She has been emailing me from ex's address telling me how I deserve the cancer and the misery of it. Everytime there is facetime at an exchange all they want to do is discuss the "inevitable". They (stepmother and spineless ex) have now "created" these problems that son is experiencing. All of these problems are completely fabricated and only witnessed at dad's house. At home son has made honor roll, doing well in sports, scouts, band, etc... I am just tired and feel harrassed by the malicious emails, and actions all being conducted by the stepmother. What can I do if anything to stop this? I feel like they are "hugging" the line of what is legal and not quite crossing over to what might be clearly considered harrassment. Although, her father died from cancer and she knows what stress does to a person fighting.

You need to find a way to deal with the ex and his wife. Whether that means not having any contact with them at all, having someone else drop off your son so there is no face time, telling them via email that you will not engage in this course of action, etc. No judge is going to make them be nice to you -- it's not against the law.

In the meantime, focus on your health and your child. Best of luck.
