Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

When do you start paying child support

I have sole custody of my son. He left to live with his mother. He is 17 years of age. My ex-wife did not file custody/child support papers until 3 months after he was living with her. Do I pay her back from the time he left or from the time the papers were filed with the courts?

Re: When do you start paying child support

Usually, the courts will order payment from the date of filing. However, always remember, a court can do whatever they want to do within the law.
