Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

In the state of Maryland, if you've been married 7 1/2 yrs & living together 9 1/2 yrs, and divorce.....will the wife be entitled to alimony? The husband makes 80k / yr and the wife became 100% perm disabled during the first year of marraige with disability payments totaling 21k / yr. If yes, what might be an approximate monthly alimony amount?

Thanks

The decision to award alimony and the amount is totally within the discretion of the judge and is determined on a case by case basis. There are about 12 factors taken into consideration by the court. Where there is a significant discrepancy in income between the spouses, and one has a limited or no ability to be self-supporting, they are likely to get an alimony award. Each side will submit a financial statement and the award will be dependent upon the needs of the wife and the ability of the husband to provide for them.
