There are two forms of custody -- legal (the right to make decisions) and physical (who the child lives with). When someone is appointed as guardian they typically have both forms of custody. In some situations a parent might have physical custody without legal custody. You may wish to consult with a family law attorney who can review the specific facts of your situation and offer you guidance.
