out of state trial - child custody

Coming in from out of state and late for court, what happens?

If you are not present when your case is called and you haven't notified the clerk's office or the judge's chambers of your problem, the case will probably be dismissed if you are the one who brought it, or the case will proceed without you if it was brought by the other parent. Showing up late is a sign of disrespect for the judge--not a good way to start a court hearing in which the judge makes the decision.
