Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
What are a step mother's rights?
Ex from start told kids they dont have to listen to me, Im not a parent/authority figure. 3 kids, b 17, g 15, b 14. Main prob is girl. never got accepted by mother until moved here. I did some monitoring on girl & found out how much she disliked me, played she did. doesnt like or will follow the rules in my house. manipulating me for 1 yr to get what she wants. mother egging girl on, girl gets long awaited acceptance. I changed, thru theapy, got meds to be a better person, to not let what girl & mother are doing get to me. I cant handle being snubbed, ignored, disrespected in own home. I have to abide by mothers rules here. I want her out of my home, all husband can say is i need to keep on girl to make her change. i told him i have been,i keep getting kicked in my face. why would i want to continue that? girl will change only if she wants & b/c she gets mothers acceptance, why would she want to? any legal recourse i can take against mother &/or girl? had a police officer tell girl that she had to listen to me & all the girl could do is say ''blah blah blah'' as he was talking. husband chooses to basically do nothing. The girl hit & kicked him when he tried taking cell phone away & nothing as punishment to her. Help!?!?

This is a serious problem, but one you need to work out with your husband and the children. If your husband isn't willing to make the effort to try and get the girl to respect you, perhaps you should suggest either counseling or see if your husband will agree to let the mother have custody if she wants it. There really isn't a legal remedy other than change of custody to solve your problem.
