Can I subpoena stbx's tax returns?
I've called the IRS a couple of times and have spoken with different people and they tell me that I cannot subpoena my stbx's tax returns for income verification purposes for our child support and divorce case? Why not?

Privacy laws prohibit this. However, lyou can demand them through discovery from the other parent, or if they don't have them, get an authorization for the returns from them, which if submitted to IRS, they will comply.
