You can do a couple of things. First of all, if

you are genuinely concerned for your safety then

you can go to district court and request a protective

order. This is one of those things that you

really don't need a lawyer for, although you may

want to consult one before proceeding. That's because

the district courts are pretty good about issuing

the initial protective order since it is only a

temporary measure. A week later you will have to

appear in court for a hearing where the accused

harasser will have a chance to appear. At that hearing

you might want to have an attorney present since

things can get complicated and if you aren't used to

the courts, they can also get very confusing.

In addition, you can also file a complaint for telphone

harassment. Again, this is something you can do

for yourself if you want to. But you will need to have

a certain level of proof. Call the phone company and

see if they can help you collect the evidence you will

need (records of calls, etc) and if other people have

heard the calls, all the better. Notice I did not

recommend recording the calls. That's what got

Linda Tripp in trouble...
