Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Time limits

I am 2 months away from being separated for 1 year. I am representing myself. Do I have to wait the full 12 months before I can go to the courthouse and file the paperwork or can I start the paperwork now?

Re: Time limits

You cannot file for a final divorce until you have been voluntarily separated for 1 year, but you could file for a limited divorce now and then amend to a final after the 1 year is up.

Re: Time limits

You must have the full 12 months before you can file for a divorce. There are several issues that may need to be addressed in order for the judge to grant the divorce. Give me a call and let's talk about what you need. My fees are reasonable.
