Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

truck as a gift but not in my name

my exboyfriend gave me a 1995 honda passport as a gift. i was not able to put the vehicle in my name until i cleared a insurance violation with the mva office. so i suggested that until i pay that off, my boyfriend should put the truck in his name. he had purchased the truck, which it had temporary tags on it until it passed md inspection. we broke up and he took the truck and i am left without a vehicle. is there anything that i can do about it? my origingal car was repossessed and he decided to buy me a vehicle because i am disabled and need a vehicle. wewere not living together but he did have items at my home

You will have to be able to prove he gave you the truck and that the gift was unconditional. You will also have to be able to show that you had actual possession of the truck, which I assume was the case if you were using it. Presumably you don't have anything in writing so this could make it difficult. It looks like you will have to take him to court if you want to pursue this, and that will be an expensive proposition.
