Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

I understand that my child support payments should stop when the child reaches age 18, unless they are in school, then it's age 19. My child is currently not in school. She dropped out last year. She will be 18 this year in May. Do I contact the courts? If so what documents do I need?

If you are paying through an earnings withholding order, or through the court system (OCSE) you will need to file a motion to terminate payment based upon your daughter's emancipation. If you are sending payments directly to the custodial parent, I would send them a letter or email alerting them that May will be the last payment because of her turning 18 and asking them to advise you if they disagree. This is to protect yourself in case they try to contest this later.
