Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

How do I go about getting visitation with my children? I never recieved notice of a court hearing in the mail or otherwise, and if I'm not mistaken, in MD if you have to go to publication it has to be in the defending parent's state/city of residence. I lived in OK at the time that a MD address is listed in this paperwork (case http://casesearch.courts.state.md.us/inquiry/inquiryDetail.jis?caseId=10C04001248&loc=67&detailLoc=CC). The plaintiff had my correct address and phone number at the time and was in contact with me almost daily. What can I do? And what does this "visitation is reserved" thing mean at the end? I just want some time with my children without their father making them keep the phone on speaker or denying me visitation every time I ask. I'm a good parent. He took advantage of my rough financial situation to take my children from me. I don't have, and have never had an alcohol or drug problem. Advice?

Visitation is reserved means that the court retains jurisdiction to consider awarding visitation upon your requesting it. What you have to do is file a petition in the case requesting visitation, serving it on the father. Unless there would be some demonstrable harm to the children by allowing you to have visitation, you will be granted it. The real issue will be the schedule, locations, terms and at whose expense. I strongly suggest you retain or at least consult with a MD family attorney who can assist you in this matter.
