Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Visitation

My friend has a child out of wedlock. An incident has happened and both

have issued protection order against each other. They went to court and the

judge would not here of any incidents of abuse pattern (he physically and

verbally abuse his wife). Informed both parties to resolved it like mature

adults but since there have instances of child neglect my friend was scared

something would happened to her son & agreement couldn't be reached. He

filed false charges against her & took her son. Since there is nothing stating

custody she can't her son back. In MD, what is reasonable visitations. He has

had her son since 6/29/05 ( a week) with no plans on returning him. Please

help her!!!!

She needs to find an attorney and file a custody petition as soon as possible. If she is indigent, there are legal aid services available in most counties.

Child Visitation

Your friends first mistake was going to the protective order hearing without a lawyer. Her second mistake is not getting one now. The longer she waits, the less chance she has of getting custody.
