Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

My wife and I are separated. I pay her a certain amount of alimony every 2 weeks along with medical insurance. I plan on moving out of state soon and she claims her lawyer says I have to file a paper stating a change in employment and insurance before I move. is this true?

If you are not under a court order to pay alimony, and you didn't agree to do so as part of a separation agreement, there is no such requirement. Also, if you are paying directly as opposed to it being send directly from your paycheck, there would be no reason to do this. Generally this requirement pertains to child support and is part of an earnings withholding order.
