Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Will I get any money?

I was married for 6 years, 4 years we lived in US and during that time we totally renovated my husband house. I worked full time job and put all my money into his (now) house. I left him in Dec. 99 and he says that because I left him he doesn't owe me anything. His house value after renovation probably increased about 80K-100K. Is he telling me the truth?

I would say based on the fact that you left does not mean that he is right and that you will not receive any compensation. It is an arguable point that you increased the value of the marital home.

However, I am unable to say for sure what will happen. I need more facts.

I would strongly suggest that you hire an attorney.

The increased equity in the house is marital property

and under Maryland law it is pretty unlikely that

your husband will be able to keep all of it. It is

definitely worth your while to see a lawyer.

Re: Will I get any money?

Maryland law provides that property is divided as of the day of divorce. Your contribution to the home would be considered by the Court in dividing maritial property.
