Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

AKC Dog Registration

We purchased a dog from a kennel in Maryland last December (2002). The dog was shipped to Florida in January. We were told that the mothers AKC papers were in another country and that when that was cleared up we should get the AKC papers. We have been continually getting excuses from the breeder. Here we are a year later and no papers. Do we have any recourse against the breeder?

Re: AKC Dog Registration

Is there a purchase agreement? If so, what does the contract require with respect to delivery of AKC papers? You may have a claim for breach of the contract, but the seller may have legitimate defenses. Without reading the written agreement, if any, I cannot give you any meaningful guidance.

Re: AKC Dog Registration

You may have an action for breach of contract, whether oral or in writing, as well as other actions such as misrepresentation or a claim in equity. I assmume that AKC status was a basis of the transaction. (410) 799-9002
