Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland
Automobile Contract
I have a contract and It states that I have 54 months of $271.21 on a car loan.It would be up on 3/13/07. I spoke with them and they are saying it was a error and should have been for 60 months. Do I have to pay the extra 6 months?

Re: Automobile Contract
It really depends on what else the contract says. For example, if elsewhere in the contract it says it's a 5 year loan and the "due in full" date is 5 years from the date of the note, then there's an obvious inconsistency. Your problem is the lender will refuse to release the lien after the 54th payment, and you'd have to go to court to force them to do so. On the other hand, it may be that there are no inconsistencies in the note, and you can hold to the terms. You might want to contact the consumer protection division of the MD Attorney General's office to get their input.
