Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland
car ownership/title
My estranged husband was in possession of a car that we are both on the title. He was making the payments but was falling behind. He rendered the car to the dealership before any official repo order was made. I am in possession of the title and did not authorize the renderment. Can the dealership legally accept that car and if not what action do I have the right to take??

Re: car ownership/title
If you want to preserve the vehicle, you should contact the finance company (it shouldn't be the dealership) and offer to bring the loan current in exchange for the vehicle. They may have "accelerated" the note, which means they would require you to pay it off before releasing it. Since they had the right of repossession upon a default on the note, your ex's turning it in is basically the equivalent.
