confessed judgement

A person handed me a confessed judgement paper from 4 years ago. This was for bailing my son from jail. He has been serving a 10 year sentence and has been in a penetentury for 4 years. He went to court for the situation that I bailed him for. Since then I have not heard fromthe bail co. Also I am on a fixed income and am disabled. I am not sure what to do. Do I need a laywerand will this effecty my credit rating if I aagree to pay them a monthly amount to -pay this off. It is for 800. plus interest and lwyer feees.

If the bail bond company wanted to collect on the note, they would have filed a court action within 3 years of the date you failed to make any payment that was due. Otherwise the note would be uncollectible in most cases. You should have received some notice from a court if they did this. If they have a court judgment, it's going to adversely affect your credit rating. If they haven't done that, I don't think you need to do anything. But if they do have a judgment, you should try to work out a payment schedule, because interest will continue to accrue until it is paid.
