Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

Contract to spay a dog

Hi I want to buy a female yorkie to breed with my male, but the person selling wants me to sign a paper saying I will spay the dog in 60 days. Can they hold me to that if I sign the paper? If so, how do you think I can get around it besides not signing the paper and not buying the dog? The dog is expensive. I think that should be my perogative.

The paper you have been asked to sign may have a provision that says that if you don't spay the dog as promised, the seller can take the dog back. I suggest you find a dog from a breeder who won't impose such a restriction.
