Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

Damage to vehicle by neighbor's golf balls

Our vehicle was hit and damaged by a neighbor who practices hitting golf balls in his front yard. We do not live on a golf course or in a golfing community. We do live in a rural ''anything goes'' community where one could keep farm animals if one wanted. What are our rights?

Get a repair estimate and tell him you want him to pay for the repair. It may be covered under his homeowner's policy. If he refuses, you can sue him in small claims court (up to $5000). If you have collision coverage on the vehicle, you can process the claim through your own insurance company if the damages are bad enough, since you probably have a $500 deductible. If you go this route, the insurance company will go after your neighbor and try to get your deductible back from him or his insurance company.
