Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

I sent doctor a copy of medical record that needed amending to the office, the medical record is from facility where surgery was done. Is it illegal for his office staff to go on the computer and pull up all my medical records from the facuilty when I didn't give permission for them to do? If the doctor needed to look at the rest of the medical records he should go to the facility where he does surgery and look them up, even if I didn't give permission, but not his office staff? If the office staff does do that can I sue?

As between the doctor himself or herself and the staff, there is no distinction. Typically a medical office will have a patient sign an authorization which allows anyone on the staff to access records. I suggest you contact the doctor's office and inquire about this. They may have concluded that by your sending them a medical record, you wanted them to see what else was in the records in order to have a complete medical profile, or that they needed to see what else was in the record to justify amending the record you sent them. I don't see the prospect of a lawsuit under these circumstances.
