Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland
Gross Negligence
On Valentines day a storm caused a tree to fall onto the power lines causing a power outage in my community. After notifying the utility company they did not respond until three days later. Our power was out from about 8am 0n 2/14 until 11:41pm on 2/16. Can we sue the utility company.

You can file a claim against your homeowner's insurance if coverage is available.

Re: Gross Negligence
It would be extremely difficult to hold the utility responsible, since they were probably dealing with other outages during this "delay" period, and obviously can only work with their available manpower. I doubt your homeowner's insurance would cover this, but you've got nothing to lose by checking.
