Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

Hotel towed car for no reason

A hotel in Maryland called the agency I was renting a car from and stated that the police had arrested the driver and they had to get the car off their property (this was at 4am). I was the driver and I was not arrested nor given any charges/tickets/citations by the police (although my boyfriend was) and had left my car there for only 8.5 hours (beginning at 3am) before attempting to pick it up and finding it was missing. The police have no record of towing the car or impounding it and as far as they are concerned there was no police involvement with the car at all.

You didn't state whether you were a guest at the hotel or not--this may bear on the answer. If you were a registered guest, and the hotel had a record of your vehicle on the registration, I don't think they had a right to have your car towed and you should complain to their customer relations department, seeking a refund.
