Is there any legal action that can be taken against someone who makes false complaints against you at your place of employment?

If you can prove that the person making the complaints knew they were false and made them with the intent to harm you, that would legally constitute slander (or libel if made in writing) and if you could demonstrate that you suffered adverse consequences, you could theoretically bring a defamation suit against them.
