Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland
Life threatened on job
My wife's life was recently threatened on her job by a customer. Security was sitting right there and done nothing. When she approached her district manager, they did nothing. She went home for fear of her life and when she returned to work found a letter saying that she was being written up for leaving the job. She heard that the gentleman admitted that her threatened her by a coworker, but she was still written up. She works for Dept of Social Services and someone has already been killed in that building before. She was told Security could have escorted her of the property safely but how does that protect her life after there. What legal action can be taken and if possible a lawsuit.

Re: Life threatened on job
This is not a matter that's amenable to a lawsuit, since fortunately your wife wasn't harmed, and wasn't threatened by a co-worker. However, she should seek a meeting with a supervisor to discuss the problem, especially the disciplinary action she received. If there is a grievance procedure available to her within the agency, she should avail herself of that if she doesn't get informal resolution.
