It is an attempt, most likely by the attorney him- or herself, to withdraw their representation of one of the parties. Usually this is based upon a lack of cooperation between client and attorney, or it could be for financial reasons. It's also possible, though unlikely, that one of the other parties filed the motion seeking removal of an adverse party's attorney because of a perceived conflict of interest.
