Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

Old or newly created law

If you have a civil lawsuit with a statute of limitations and the case happened under an old law, which is now chnaged before you bring you case. Which do you proceed under. The law which was in effect when the incident happened or the new law which is the same only slightly different.

It depends on what the law is. Some laws are created to be applied retroactively and, therefore, it depends on when the suit is brought which law applies. Other laws are not replaced be the new laws when the events occurred before the new law became effective.
