Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland
Personal Property Stolen
I was a long term guest in someones home, and as a result I had personal property items stolen from me, what can i do? Or what should i do? the lease holders on the apartment did not have renters insurance so my stuff will not be covered even though it was a condition stated in there lease. I have reason to believe that one of the lease holders or their guests may have taken the items. What would be the best course of action?

Re: Personal Property Stolen
When you have sufficient evidence to prove your claim against a particular person or persons, you could then file what's called a warrant in detinue
for the return of your property in your local general district court, and, in the event that the property can no longer be returned(for whatever reason), you could then request that a judgment be entered against the wrongful distrainer(s)of the property for its fair market value(for which you must have credible proof).
