Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

SOL for Auto Accident Debts

In 1993 I was involved in an auto accident that the other person was ticketed for. I injured my neck and am now being sued by both the doctor and lawyer that I used at that time. I did not receive any compensation in the court case. Do I still have to pay the $750 each for them to appear in court that day?

Re: SOL for Auto Accident Debts

Auto collision is usually a contingency fee. My contingency fee for automobile personal injury cases cannot be beat. The attorney who seeks damages against you apparently does not have a contingency fee agreement. Where insurance was involved with payments for your health care I may be able to assist you. Your best action is to call me before you accept medical treatment. The physicians' bills may not be collectible and you should contact an attorney.

In MD, the statute of limitations is 3 years from when the claim accrued. You do not provide sufficient facts to say whether it has run or not. Apart from that, you almost certainly owe the doctor, unless he was subpoenaed solely as a fact witness. Whether you owe the lawyer depends on your contract with the lawyer.
