Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

son wrongly of stealing sneekers

Mall security call me and said my son ran out the store with a pair or sneakers. He accidentially left his bag in the store so they found my number. Someone else took the sneakers. The next day I called the manager and he told me it's over and done with..along with other insensitive comments. Do I have any recourse because I felt I was treated very badly. Actually, my son made a purchase of over $100.00. Which he had to go back and show proof. Any advice.

Re: son alleged wrongly of stealing sneekers

If your son did not in fact steal the sneakers and detainment occured then this would be wrongful. Also, defamation may lie but this would be based on whether the store knew or should have known that your son did not steal the sneakers. Certainly you should consider a well drafted complaint to the store owner.
