can you sue someone when they make a promise to marry you and you spend a lot of money and do a lot of work to there house and at the end of the project they suddenly change their mind even after they had promised to pay you in front of people.

You could sue them for the value of the work performed, but not for breaking up with you.

You can sue him for the value of the work if there was a contract (verbal or written) to pay you for it. Did he agree to pay you for the work at the time you started the work or anytime before completion of the work? If so, you can sue him. However, it is likely he will argue it was a gift or that you were doing it because you planned to live there once you were married.

If you decide to sue, you need to bring your witnesses to court to testfy before the the trier of fact (judge or jury)
